Deb Conroy was elected the first female DuPage County Board Chair in 2022. Conroy previously represented DuPage County communities for 10 years in the Illinois House of Representatives.

Conroy believes that DuPage can be fiscally responsible while investing in services and programs that support families and communities. She developed and passed fiscally responsible budgets that invest in healthcare, housing, and infrastructure while holding the line on taxes and creating surpluses. Under her leadership, the county’s bond rating was upgraded  to AAA, joining an elite group of counties that are AAA-rated by all three rating agencies.

Conroy is a passionate advocate for mental health and addiction treatment. While serving in the General Assembly, she fought for the creation of a new House Mental Health Committee and served as that committee’s first Chair, passing legislation to require insurance coverage for behavioral healthcare, expand treatment options, and fund community providers that effectively treat people where they live. She continued that work as Chair, championing the county’s groundbreaking Crisis Recovery Center, which provides a safe place for individuals in crisis to receive the treatment they need in a non-emergency room setting. The DuPage facility is the first crisis recovery center that treats youth and accepts Medicaid patients, private insurance, and the uninsured, reaffirming DuPage County’s commitment to getting residents the care they need.

Conroy currently resides in Lombard and raised her four adult sons in Elmhurst, where she served on the District 205 school board. She is a proud kidney donor and an advocate for organ donation.
